How We Make a Key With No Original
- Verify ownership (ID plus registration or title)
- Get the key code, or decode the door lock
- Cut a new blade to factory specs
- Program the chip / remote to the car's computer
- Erase the lost keys from the car's memory
- Test start, locks and remote before we leave
Why Erase the Lost Keys?
If your keys were stolen, or lost somewhere with your address on them, whoever finds them could start your car. On most vehicles we can remove the old keys from the immobilizer when we program the new ones, so the lost keys stop working.
Then Make a Spare
While we're there, adding a second key costs much less than coming back for another all-keys-lost job later. We strongly recommend leaving with two.
